The organisation is seeking to fill the positions of director and treasurer on its non-executive Board of Directors, after moving into what it describes as "a new strategic period."

It has been an independent International Federation for 10 years and is advertising the posts as part of its goal to "develop a skill-based Board that can support the delivery of ambitious objectives."

The IWRF says it is aiming to create an "inclusive and diverse Board" and welcomes applications from anyone with experience in the following fields - business, finance, legal, international sports, disability awareness and wheelchair rugby knowledge.

The deadline for applications is November 30.

If any interviews are required with candidates to fill the voluntary positions, these will be conducted by video conference.

The IWRF describes itself as "a world leader in wheelchair sport" and says it operates with the mission to "grow and support the wheelchair rugby family."

Wheelchair rugby was first contested at the Paralympic Games as a demonstration sport at Atlanta 1996.

It became a medal awarding sport at Sydney 2000 and has featured in every Paralympics since, where it is contested in a single mixed team competition.
