The Swedish Floorball Federation (SFF) has announced its intention to bid for the 2024 Men's World Floorball Championship, with Malmö proposed as the host city.

In a letter co-signed by the City of Malmö, Malmö Arena and Event in Skåne, the SFF has applied to the International Floorball Federation (IFF) to stage the marquee tournament.

The IFF Central Board will decide who will organise the 2024 Men's World Floorball Championship at a meeting in December, with Singapore also applying to host it.

Sweden last held the event in 2014 in Gothenburg, having also hosted in 2006 and 1996.

"During the evaluation, discussions have been held with several cities and arenas and we appreciate all the stakeholders' serious commitment," SFF secretary general Mikael Ahlerup said.

"The event concept that Malmö and Skåne have presented is incredibly exciting.

"Swedish floorball will grow further with this Men's World Floorball Championships, which has all the prerequisites to become one of the best international events."

The Malmö Arena in the city has a capacity of 12,512 people, with the venue's attendance record for floorball 11,324.

Baltic Hall, which also will stage matches if the bid is successful, has a capacity of 4,077.

Sweden are the most successful men's floorball team, having made the final at every edition since the World Championship's inception in 1996.

The Swedes have won a record eight world titles, but Finland are the reigning champions.
