The International Esports Federation (IESF) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA).

Both parties have pledged to work together and share resources, with the aim of developing an "effective" anti-doping programme for esports.

This will be in compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, the IESF announced.

"Under the agreement, both parties will cooperate for the fairness of esports events taking place around the world and for anti-doping education and tests for esports athletes," an IESF statement said.

"With this strategic movement, IESF can support esports athletes globally also through its member nations for fair and clean esports."

The IESF was founded in 2018 and has its headquarters in South Korean city Busan.

Eilat in Israel is due to host the IESF World Championships this year, between December 6 and 12.

The organisation boasts 82 member nations from around the world.

Esports is rising in popularity around the globe, and is featuring at more and more "traditional" sporting events.

However, governance remains a problem as the Global Esports Federation also exists as a rival to the IESF.
