World Archery Philippines President Clint Aranas is targeting securing more corporate sponsors in his bid for the top job at the country's National Olympic Committee.

Aranas is challenging incumbent Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino in the election, scheduled to take place on November 27.

"That’s part of our mission, to make the National Sports Authorities (NSAs) self-reliant and self-sustaining," Aranas said, according to the Manila Standard.

"So, if a sponsor wants to help, they can help a group of NSAs."

The build-up to the election has been overshadowed by a row over the Organising Committee for last year's Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines failing to provide its financial report from the event.

The report from the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organising Committee (PHISGOC) had been due to be presented to the POC on October 10.

Concerns have been raised by POC Executive Board members, including Aranas, over the missed deadline.

Tolentino, who became POC President last July in a snap election called following the resignation of Ricky Vargas, has promised the issue will be clarified.

He said he would call a POC Executive Board meeting to discuss the PHISGOC report and guidelines for the upcoming election.

Tolentino succeeded Vargas after he beat rival Philip Ella Juico by four votes in the POC election in July 2019.

The former head of Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines and a member of the Philippine House of Representatives was elected to serve the remainder of Vargas' term.
