Training activities for the 2021 World Orienteering Championships in the Czech Republic have been frozen due to travel restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) and World Orienteering Championships organisers agreed to freeze training activities after new travel restrictions in the Czech Republic.

Due to the new restrictions, it was deemed that teams and individual athletes would not have equal access to on site training opportunities.

Teams and athletes are now asked to avoid travelling to the Czech Republic to carry out training for the World Orienteering Championships, and are also asked to respect the embargoes on official training areas if already in the country.

The training embargo is primarily for sandstone forest terrain, which will be declared open and training activities restored as soon as free travel into the Czech Republic is possible again.

Organisers will inform all teams about changes to planned official training activities by December at the latest.

Competition is scheduled to take place in Doksy from July 4 to 9.

This year's World Orienteering Championships were cancelled due to the global health crisis.
