Competition was originally due to take place in Nakhon Ratchasima in December as part of the IWAS World Games, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

It will now be held at the Ambassador City Jomtien complex in Pattaya.

The Wheelchair Fencing Under-17 and Under-23 World Championships is also scheduled for April 24 to 26 at the same venue.

"We are happy to announce that Thailand will stage these two important competitions as originally planned, and are confident that they will be exceptional events," said IWAS President Rudi Van Den Abbeele.

"The new venue is impressive and will provide a great stage for athletes to grab some of the remaining qualification points for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, as well as a platform for new faces to emerge."

The Asian Championships are set to act as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which were also pushed back to 2021 as a result of the global health crisis. 

Other opportunities for Tokyo 2020 qualification include the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in São Paulo from February 24 to 28, followed immediately by the Americas Championships until March 3. 

The European Championships in Eger in Hungary will conclude the road to Tokyo 2020 from May 14 to 17.
