The IWGA membership is due to gather online on Friday (November 6) where the delayed Birmingham 2021 Games are likely to dominate discussions.

Original plans would have seen the meeting take place on April 23 during the SportAccord Summit in Lausanne.

The major gathering was cancelled in March, however, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

November 6 was chosen as the new date as it coincides with the International Federation Forum, which this year is also taking place virtually.

"A virtual meeting with remote voting presents us with all kinds of new challenges," said Gossow.

"Our Board and our staff are working hard to ensure that everything will run smoothly during the annual meeting.

"Our member federations need to familiarise themselves with the conference call platform and the voting platform beforehand, so as to be able to vote and speak in the meeting. 

"Mandatory online voting training sessions will be organised in the weeks leading up to the meeting, to ensure a smooth meeting for all." 

Birmingham in Alabama was initially due to stage the World Games next year, but the global health crisis pushed the event into 2022.

This was to avoid a clash with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which have been moved to 2021.

The agenda for the meeting will be the same "in principle" as what was planned in April, the IWGA said.

Some items have been updated, however.

Participants are allowed to nominate one representative for the meeting who can speak and vote, as well as a maximum of two observers.
