Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games premium partner EDF has announced the addition of 15 French athletes to its team of ambassadors.

EDF more than doubled its team of athletes, dubbed EDF champions, from 13 athletes to 28 as part of its partnership with Paris 2024.

London 2012 Olympic swimming bronze medallist Charlotte Bonnet, Beijing 2008 Paralympic long jump champion Arnaud Assoumani and reigning canoe slalom Olympic champion Denis Gargaud-Chanut are among the athletes to be signed up.

French Paralympic and Sports Committee President and two-time Paralympic track and field gold medallist Marie-Amélie Le Fur has also become an EDF champion.

They join a team which already features athletes such as London 2012 Olympic swimming champion Florent Manaudou and moguls star Perrine Laffont.

"We had planned to speak around the Tokyo 2020 Games and today it is a way of showing our solidarity with the world of sport," said EDF head of brand and sponsorship Alexandre Boulleray.

"We are looking forward to Paris 2024 but we are also hoping for medals from the Tokyo Games."

French energy giant EDF was unveiled as the second premium partner for Paris 2024 in November 2019.

The company became the Games' official electricity and gas supplier.

Preparations for Paris 2024 have been severely impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Cost-cutting measures announced so far have included swimming and volleyball venue changes, but Boulleray claimed EDF is "in solidarity" with the Organising Committee and not concerned about the adaptations.
