Snow conditions in Ruka are good enough for a flurry of World Cup events to go ahead later this month, organisers have said.

The Finnish resort is due to stage men's Nordic combined and ski jumping events from November 26 to 29.

Men's and women's World Cup cross-country races are also due to be held the same weekend.

Despite warm weather in Finland, artificial snow and deposits saved from last year will be enough to prepare the jumping hill and a 2.5-kilmetre cross-country course, the International Ski Federation (FIS) expects.

"The weather forecast during the upcoming days is still warm, but it will get colder again at the end of the next week and then it should be possible to produce snow again," cross-country snow controller Annmari Viljanmaa said.

"The main focus is to prepare the best possible conditions on the competition course and then the testing area and warm up course if possible."

Levi in Finland is due to host a women's FIS Alpine Ski World Cup leg the week before, and that too has been given the green light despite some initial concerns over snow conditions.

Ruka's Nordic combined and cross-country World Cup events will both both season-openers for the disciplines.

With December's cross-country, Nordic combined and ski jumping World Cup competitions in Lillehammer in Norway postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, developments in Ruka will be welcome news for the FIS.
