The Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) organisers marked a year until the men and women's finals of the tournament by announcing the latest recipients of its large grants for community clubs and organisations.

As part of its social impact initiative, these latest grant projects now take their funding given to communities to over £10 million ($13.3 million/€11.1 million).

Delivered by RLWC2021 in partnership with the Rugby Football League, Sport England and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, its CreatedBy programme has helped to grow participation in the sport.

Three grants have been announced in the latest news, with the first of these being for Thatto Heath Crusaders from St. Helens.

This first project will see the club convert an existing grass pitch to a carpet hybrid pitch, allowing for better usage across the club's teams.

It will also help to combat fixture cancellation due to bad weather and floodlighting to maximise the potential use of the pitch.

Siddal ARLFC in Halifax will receive a grant for similar instalments with a particular focus on providing more opportunities for women and girls and develop a sustainable pathway for the area.

Victoria Park ARLFC in Warrington will receive a new 3G pitch in a bid to transform the club into a community hub for the development and growth of rugby league in Warrington.

The grant is to be used to help grow Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL), Learning Disability Rugby League and women's and girls' rugby league.

The site will also be home of all fixtures for the PDRL World Cup, with the exception of the final, in 2021.

"With exactly a year to go until our finals at Old Trafford, our social impact programme is really making a difference," said RLWC2021 chief executive, Jon Dutton.

"To achieve £10 million worth of new projects that will leave a long lasting legacy in community rugby league is fantastic.

"As a tournament with a purpose we are dedicated to using the next 12 months to continue this much-needed investment programme through the pledge that UK Government has made to the tournament."

The Rugby League World Cup is set to take place in England from October 23 to November 27 2021 for the men's competition, with the women's competition running from November 13 to 27 and the wheelchair competition from November 11 to 26.
