Germany's Francesco Friedrich maintained his unbeaten run in the two-man bobsleigh in this season's International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup during the final race in Sigulda in Latvia.

It means he has won all four of the two-man bobsleigh events at Sigulda, taking a commanding lead at the top of the 2020-2021 standings.

The Olympic champion is also the reigning IBSF World Cup champion.

Along with push athlete Alexander Schüller, Friedrich was close to half a second ahead of silver medallist Michael Vogt of Switzerland having clocked identical runs of 49.19sec.

Vogt and his push athlete Sandro Michel were down in fourth after the first run, but an improved second run bumped the Swiss pair to the silver medal, 0.44 behind Friedrich.

Germany's Johannes Lochner recovered from a poor day yesterday where he finished outside the medals, ending with a bronze medal to consolidate second in the overall IBSF standings.

Along with Christian Rasp, he held onto the final position on the podium by a tenth of a second ahead of Latvian pair Oskars Melbardis and Edgars Nemme.

The third set of Germans, Christoph Hafer and Issam Ammour, fell outside the medal positions after a poor second run dropped them to fifth, 0.68 behind Friedrich.

Two rounds of the IBSF World Cup are now set to take place in Innsbruck in Austria next, starting from December 11.
