Sanctioned by the ISA, the APP World Tour has expanded to new cities and venues.

The upcoming stand-up paddle season is due to see a return to Japan, a nation that has hosted multiple APP World Tour events as well as the ISA World Championships for three consecutive years between 2017 and 2019.

Surfing is also set to make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 in the nation next year.

The 2021 APP World Tour will also return to French Polynesia, where Tahiti is set to be the surfing venue for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The opening event of the APP World Tour is yet to have a confirmed venue, but is timetabled for late May to early June.

London is set to host the second event from July 30 to August 1, while an unidentified location in Switzerland is set to host race three from August 6 to 8.

Tahiti and Osaka are then set to host events in September o complete the first half of the APP World Tour.

"Since our historic partnership in 2017, the ISA and App have been working constantly to develop the sport at every level and the announcement of the newly-expanded 2021 season is an illustration of just how far the sport has come," said ISA President Fernando Aguerre.

"After a challenging year for world sport, it is super exciting to see the continued momentum behind stand-up paddle and it justifies our ongoing investment to grow stand-up paddle in the best interests of the athletes and the sport.

"It is great to see destinations across the world clearly recognising the amazing value and uniqueness of the sport and this identifies the ISA's long-term ambition and commitment for stand-up paddle to achieve its Olympic dream."

San Diego is scheduled to host the sixth event from October 1 to 3, followed by Maui in Hawaii from October 14 to 17 and a Portuguese from November 9 to 14.

The Spanish island of Gran Canaria is set to host the ninth event from November 20 to 28, followed by a finale in Paris from December 3 to 5.
