The men’s giant slalom doubleheader in Santa Caterina in Italy has also been disrupted by weather, with the second race - which was scheduled to take place today - postponed to tomorrow over the snow conditions.

A statement from the FIS said there was a "high danger of avalanches" in St Moritz due to the unrelenting snowfall.

Officials in the area had been alerted of possible snowslides by the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos.

While both races in St Moritz fell victim to the weather, organisers in Santa Caterina are still hoping to stage the second men’s competition tomorrow.

Despite dense snowfall, the first event went ahead yesterday with Croatia’s Filip Zubčić producing a fearless display to claim the second World Cup victory of his career.

A lack of snow had been cited by FIS as the reason for the third and fourth legs of the men's FIS Alpine Ski World Cup being moved from Val-d'Isère in France to Santa Caterina.

But the fourth leg is now at risk of not taking place as snow continues to fall in the Italian resort.

If cancelled, attention will turn to Val-d'Isère, which is due to stage downhill and super-G competitions on December 12 and 13.

Vlhová will hope to continue her hot streak when the women's season resumes in Courchevel in France, which is scheduled to host two giant slalom events on December 12 and 13.
