Moscow will host a two-day Sambo World Cup behind closed doors ©FIAS

Moscow is set to host the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) World Cup with the two-day event taking place at the Luzhniki Sports Complex.

FIAS say athletes from 15 countries are scheduled to participate.

Competition will begin tomorrow.

The first day of the Kharlampiev Memorial tournament will focus on preliminary bouts, with men’s and women’s sport sambo divisions contested.

Men’s combat sambo will also feature on the opening day.

A monument to sambo’s founders Vasily Oshchepkov, Victor Spiridonov and Anatol Kharlampiev will also be unveiled tomorrow.

The monument reads: "To the founders of SAMBO in Russia V. A. Spiridonov, V. S. Oshchepkov and A. A. Kharlampiev".

The unveiling will take place prior to the Opening Ceremony of the World Cup event.

Competition will conclude on Saturday (December 19), with finals held in each weight category.

Bouts will take place at the Small Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Sports Complex.

Competition will be held without spectators due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coverage of the Opening Ceremony, the memorial unveiling and competition will be streamed online by FIAS.
