Yukiya Sato topped the qualifying round of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup in Engelberg. 

The Japanese 25-year-old achieved a jump of 137.0 metres to finish on 153.0 points. 

In second was Piotr Zyla, wth the Pole jumping 132.5m to manage 152.4.

Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway recorded a jump of 139.0m and a total of 149.0 to place third.

Granerud has finished on top of the podium for the past three FIS Ski Jumping World Cup events and is favourite to do so again tomorrow.

The 24-year-old leads the World Cup standings with 400 points.

He is followed by Markus Eisenbichler of Germany on 333 and Robert Johansson of Norway on 220. 

Competition in Engelberg in Sweden is set to continue tomorrow and concludes on Sunday (December 20).
