Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud extended his International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup winning streak with victory in Swiss resort Engelberg.

Granerud, who earned silver in the individual competition and gold in the team event at last week’s FIS Ski Flying Championships, has now won four successive World Cup legs to strengthen his position in the overall standings.

The 24-year-old recorded jumps of 133.5 metres and 138m to accumulate a winning 331.4-point haul to secure victory.

"I think it's my best performance this winter, especially the first round with everything going on, having to wait for so long and then performing such a good jump under such hard conditions," said Granerud in an interview with Eurosport.

Poland’s Kamil Stoch and Slovenia's Anže Lanišek secured their places on the podium for the first time this season.

Stoch registered 309.2 after back-to-back jumps of 134m while Lanišek landed 137.5m and 133m to score 302.7.

Germany’s Markus Eisenbichler, who won the opening two legs of the season before Granerud stamped his authority on the World Cup, finished fourth with 301.7.

Stoch was among four Polish ski jumpers in the top 10 as Piotr Zyla came fifth ahead of Andrzej Stekala in seventh and Dawid Kubacki in ninth.

Pius Paschke of Germany was sixth, while Slovenian Bor Pavlovcic came eighth and Norway’s Marius Lindvik, who took bronze in Nizhny Tigal in Russia earlier this month, managed a 10th place finish on this occasion.

Granerud sits at the top of the overall standings with 500 points ahead of Eisenbichler on 383 and Norway’s Robert Johansson on 220.

The second competition in Engelberg is due to take place tomorrow.
