Guatemala is poised to be become the latest country with a teqball National Challenger Series.

The Guatemala National Teqball Federation has announced plans to begin the competition in April, and it will offer players the chance to qualify for the 2021 Teqball World Championships.

It will be branded as the Guatemala Teqball Tour.

Representatives from the Guatemalan Olympic Committee, Hungarian Consulate in Guatemala, Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala and Guatemalan Ministry of Culture and Sports al attended a launch event earlier this month at the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City.

New players were able to try the sport of teqball at the event at the national stadium.



The International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) reports that further promotional events are planned before the Guatemala Teqball Tour begins.

The Guatemala National Teqball Federation was founded in 2019, with Erick Acevedo President and Martin Machón secretary general.

It also wants to stage referee and coaching courses, led by FITEQ-certified instructors, in the coming months.

FITEQ plans to stage Teqball World Championships in 2021, having been unable to do so in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.

Earlier this month, chairman Viktor Huszár revealed three countries were interested in hosting the fourth edition of the Teqball World Championships and expressed hope that spectators would be able to attend.
