The International Swimming Federation (FINA) Men's Water Polo World League is to resume with a three-day tournament in Debrecen in Hungary starting tomorrow.

Competition had been suspended for 10 months following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March.

In order to conclude the European round, a three-day event has been organised featuring the eight teams that had ranked highest before it was postponed.

Four teams are set to secure a place at the Super Finals in Indianapolis in the United States from April 26 to May 2.

The tournament will start at the quarter-final stage tomorrow, with Montenegro taking on Croatia, Italy meeting Hungary and France set to play Greece.

Spain had already beaten defending champions Serbia in a quarter-final in March and will enter at the semi-final stage on Saturday (January 9).

The final and third-place game are scheduled for Sunday (January 10).

Reigning Olympic champions Serbia have dominated the Men's Water Polo World League with 12 titles, although Montenegro claimed the crown in 2018.

The European round of the Water Polo World League is due to resume on February 2.
