Daniyal Shakhbakhsh and Seyed Shahin Mousavi were among those to attend a training camp on Kish Island organised by the Iranian Boxing Federation.

Both Shakhbakhsh and Shahin Mousavi have already booked a place at this year's Olympic Games in Tokyo after triumphing at the Asia and Oceania qualifying event in Amman in March.

They joined seven other Iranian boxers at the training camp, the majority of whom were winners at the 2019 Iranian Elite National Boxing Championships in Oroumieh.

This included Asian Championship quarter-finalist Moslem Maghsoudi Amiri, Mahdi Khosravi, Bagher Faraji, Omid Ahmadisafa, Meysam Gheslaghi, Pouria Amiri and Ali Jamali Ghaleh.

National team head coach Alireza Esteki organised a schedule for the camp which focused on the physical preparation of the boxers.

Iran's youth national team began preparations for international competition in October, with the Youth World Boxing Championships set to be held in Kielce in Poland from April 10 to 24.

Featherweight Shakhbakhsh and middleweight Shahin Mousavi are considered Iran's strongest medal hopes for the boxing competition at Tokyo 2020, with the Games postponed to July 23 to August 8 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shakhbakhsh, 20, was a quarter-finalist at the 2018 Youth World Boxing Championships in Budapest, while Shahin Mousavi finished with a bronze medal at the 2019 Asian Boxing Championships and exited the 2019 World Boxing Championships at the quarter-final stage.

Iran is yet to win an Olympic medal in boxing.
