The NIGTEQ was among three federations that were granted full recognition by the NOC at last month’s Annual General Meeting.

Speaking to Leadership, NIGTEQ general secretary Ndudi Edede hailed the "diligent" work carried out by the NOC’s Technical Committee to grant the approval.

"We are grateful to the NOC," said Ndudi.

"We really worked for it as it was not an easy task.

"The Technical Committee of the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the body as a whole were so diligent in their activities and were so precise in their actions.

"We really worked towards meeting up with their requirements and we eventually did, so I thank God for that. 

"We give God all the glory."

The NIGTEQ is one of 89 national bodies registered with the International Federation of Teqball.

In September, NIGTEQ vice-president Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed claimed the sport was spreading rapidly in the country because of its appeal to all ages.

Ndudi said the recognition from the NOC was a further boost and said the NIGTEQ was now looking to kick on in 2021.

"The approval means a lot to us as a federation," said Ndudi.

"(The process to gain recognition) slowed down our activities but we are so patient with them to ensure that we got the approval.

"Now that we have got it, it is going to fast-track our activities.

"We worked so hard to achieve it.

"They did not delay, they did their job creditably, and we also did our best."

The national governing bodies for curling, and bobsleigh and skeleton were also granted full recognition by the NOC last month.
