Scuol is set to host the opening parallel giant slalom competition of 2021 with racing scheduled to take place at the Swiss venue tomorrow.

Two International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Alpine World Cup giant slalom races have already been held this season at Cortina d’Ampezzo and Carezza in Italy.

Germany’s Ramona Hofmeister currently leads the women’s standings after securing 160 points from the first two events.

Benjamin Karl of Austria also tops the men’s standings on 160 points.

Both Hofmeister and Karl placed third in the opening event of the season, before winning the second competition.

The two snowboard stars will hope to retain their positions in the standings tomorrow.

Switzerland's Ladina Jenny will expect to challenge reigning World Cup champion Hofmeister in the women's event.

Italy's Roland Fischnaller and Austria's Andreas Prommegger should be Karl's main rivals.

A total of 100 snowboarders are set to compete at the event, which is being held under strict FIS protocols amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

No fans will be able to watch the competition on site.
