Yaroslavl in Russia is poised to stage the first of those tomorrow with men’s and women’s competitions for two successive days including a mixed team event on Sunday (January 17).

It will be athletes first aerials competition since Ruka in Finland hosted the season opener more than a month ago.

That weekend saw Maxim Burov top a Russian one-two-three as he finished ahead of Pavel Krotov and Ilya Burov.

The Russians will now hope to make home advantage count with the Burov brothers looking to finish on the podium together again.

Laura Peel got her defence of the women's Aerials World Cup crown off to the perfect start with victory in Ruka.

The Australian proved too strong for her rivals as Emma Weiss of Germany came second and Russia’s Anastasiia Prytkova completed the podium.

After competing in Yaroslavl, the FIS Aerials World Cup is set to stay in Russia with a stage in Moscow on January 30.

Athletes are then scheduled to battle it out in Belarusian capital Minsk before competing in Deer Valley in the United States on February 5 to complete a busy four-week period.
