Lara Gut-Behrami regained her lead in the super-G standings after triumphing at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup event in Crans-Montana.

Switzerland's Gut-Behrami made use of the home advantage to finish in 1min 15.63 sec, winning by almost a second despite complaining of back pain before competition began.

Her nearest opponent was Austria's Tamara Tippler in 1:16.56, while reigning overall World Cup champion Federica Brignone of Italy was third in 1:16.65.

This was the biggest winning margin in a World Cup super-G event since 2015.

The victory was enough to see Gut-Behrami move to the top of the super-G standings at detriment to compatriot Corinne Suter, who could only finish ninth in today's contest.

Gut-Behrami and Suter are on 245 points and 169 respectively, while Brignone is third on 165.

Slovakia's Petra Vlhová, who did not finish today's race, still maintained her lead in the overall FIS Alpine Ski World Cup standings with 861.

Michelle Gisin of Switzerland is in second on 743, while Gut-Behrami has risen up to third on 667.

World Cup competition is scheduled to continue in Kronplatz in Italy on Tuesday (January 26) with a giant slalom race.
