Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway secured his seventh victory of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup season with a dominant display in Willingen.

Granerud held a narrow lead at the halfway stage of competition at the German venue as his first-round jump of 147.5 metres was rewarded with a score of 144.8 points.

That put him just 0.4 points ahead of fellow Norwegian Daniel-André Tande heading into the second round.

Granerud produced the top score in the second round, leaping 145.5m to earn 140.7 points.

His overall total of 285.5 was enough for a comfortable triumph in the night event.

Tande was distanced in the second round but held on to complete a Norwegian one-two on 276.6 points.

Poland’s two-time Olympic champion Kamil Stoch rounded off the podium on 272.2.

Top qualifier Andrzej Stękała of Poland was unable to back up his display yesterday as he languished down in 20th place.

Granerud's victory saw him move further clear of Germany’s Markus Eisenbichler at the top of the World Cup standings.

The Norwegian now has 1,106 points after 16 events this season.

Eisenbichler, seventh today, trails in second on 828.

A second competition is due to be held in Willingen tomorrow.
