Lara Gut-Behrami has continued her impressive form with a victory in the downhill at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup in Val di Fassa in Italy.

The Swiss star has dominated World Cup competition since the start of the year, finishing on the podium at the last six contests and winning four.

She also clinched world titles in both the Super-G and giant slalom in Cortina d'Ampezzo last week.

But victory did not come easily for Gut-Behrami today, with the 29-year-old winning by just 0.02 seconds.

Gut-Behrami had recorded the winning time of 1min 23.93sec, with Ramona Siebenhofer of Austria narrowly missing out on gold in 1:23.95.

Switzerland's Corinne Suter was 0.26 seconds off the pace to finish third.

Today's win saw Gut-Behrami take the lead of the World Cup standings, usurping Petra Vlhová who finished ninth.

Gut-Behrami leads on 1,047 points, with Slovakia's Vlhová on 1,018 and Michelle Gisin of Switzerland on 836.

World Cup competition is to continue tomorrow with a Super-G race.
