Slovenia's Lena Repinc and Russia's Denis Irodov claimed gold in the sprint races today as the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Youth World Championships continued in Obertilliach in Austria.

Today was another perfect day for Irodov who won his second title of the Championships, finishing with a clean shooting record in the men's 7.5 kilometre race in a time of 18min 22.5sec.

On Saturday (February 27), Irodov won the individual race.

Italy's Fabio Piller Cottrer also had 100 per cent target accuracy, pivotally securing himself the silver medal 21.1 seconds behind the Russian.

Poland's Jan Gunka won the bronze, 27.9 behind the leader, finishing with one penalty lap.

Sweden's Oscar Andersson and Poland's Marcin Zawol completed the top five, the latter blowing a chance of a medal after suffering two penalty laps.

In the women's 6km sprint, Repinc had enough to win the gold, following on from her silver medal success in the individual race on February 27, finishing in a time of 17:04.9.

The Slovenian was 5.2 seconds ahead of Italy's Linda Zingerle, who won this race last year.

Both biathletes had to take a penalty lap, but had enough to finish ahead of Germany's Selina Grotian, who was rewarded for her perfect accuracy with a bronze medal, 11.6 adrift of Repinc.

The French pairing of Fany Bertrand and Maya Cloetens completed the top five, finishing within 20 seconds of the winner.
