The second day of competition in Tunis featured a gold medal for Raja Jebali ©World Para Athletics

World champion Kiara Rodriguez was among the winners on the second day of competition at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Tunis.

The Ecuadorian athlete triumphed in the women’s long jump competition at the Rades Athletics Stadium in the Tunisian city.

Rodriguez, who won T47 World Championship and Parapan American Games titles in 2019, secured victory with a jump of 5.50 metres.

France’s Alexandra Nouchet finished as the runner-up with an effort of 4.00m, with Switzerland’s Sofia Gonzalez third on 3.66m.

Both Nouchet and Gonzalez compete in T63 category events.

Tunisia’s world champion Raja Jebali was also among the winners, as she topped the standings in the women’s F40 shot put event.

Jebali achieved a winning throw of 8.31m.

Her compatriots Rima Abdelli and Nourhein Belhaj Salem completed the podium on 8.02m and 7.78m, respectively.

Competition in Tunis will conclude tomorrow.

The 14th edition of this event in Tunis is key for athletes seeking qualification for this summer’s rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, which are due to run from August 24 to September 5.
