On the penultimate day of competition the semi-finals and medal matches took place in the men’s and women’s recurve and compound open disciplines.

In the men’s recurve open gold went to Samuel Molina of Mexico who beat Heriberto Alves Roca of Brazil 6-2.

The bronze medal match pitted the countries against each other again and Mexico came out on top as Jose Baez comfortably beat Nelson Santos Silva of Brazil 6-0.

Brazil claimed the gold in the women’s recurve open category after Fabiola Dergovics beat Emma Rose Ravish of the United States 6-2.

The bronze medal went to Maria Monica Daza Guzman of Colombia who beat Thais Silva Carvalho of Brazil 6-4.

In the men’s compound open gold went to Mexico after Omar Echeverria ran out a 145-138 winner against Andrey De Castro of Brazil.

Mexico also claimed the bronze as Gerardo Rodriguez beat Cristian David Correa Alvaran of Colombia 137-135.

In the women’s compound open category the gold medal went to Mariana Elena Adelina Zuniga Varela of Chile who defeated Karen Van Nest of Canada 144-135.

Bronze went to Anne Ferreira Silva Pacheco Xavier of Brazil who overcame Teresa Wallace of the United States 128-119.

Tomorrow sees the final day of competition, with semi-finals and medal matches scheduled to take place in the men’s and women’s compound and recurve categories.
