The British duo racked up a winning score of 1,470 points to edge out home pair Sarolta Simon and Balazs Szep who came second on 1,466.

The bronze medal went to South Korea’s Kim Sun-woo and Lee Ji-hun after they recorded 1,401.

Green and Choong were sixth after the fencing before reeling off victories in the swimming, riding and laser run.

They finished the swimming in a winning time of 1min 52.75sec before scoring 287 in riding and completing the laser run in 11:00.99 to clinch top spot.

"I had some things to work out in my mind after the men's final, especially in fencing," said Choong, who ended the men's evident in an underwhelming 32nd place.

"Today wasn't perfect but it was a good step in the right direction.

"I knew on the last lap that I had a good sprint finish, and I was actually willing to let [Szep] take the pace, but he didn't overtake me and I knew I would have enough left for the home straight."

Green celebrated her first senior UIPM medal since stepping up from the junior ranks.

"It feels great," said Green.

"We've been training hard for the past few months and it's starting to pay off and I'm very excited."

Asked about the difference in standard from junior to senior level, Green added: "It's mad - especially the fencing, which is on another level.

"And in the laser run you just can't afford to miss a shot.

"I used to be able to catch people with my run but not at this level."

The mixed relay brought to a close the first UIPM World Cup competition in 13 months as athletes aimed to boost their qualification hopes for this year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Back-to-back contests are scheduled to take place in Sofia in Bulgaria in April before the circuit is due to return to Budapest for the World Cup Finals.
