The Russian Bobsleigh Federation (RBF) has announced it is searching for new bobsleigh and skeleton athletes, with those not on the national team being able to tryout at their testing event next month.

This is scheduled to take place on May 13 at the Paramonovo International Bobsleigh Track in Moscow.

Athletes are invited to take part in various sprint and jump tests to apply for either disciplines.

The RBF are also looking for young athletes born in 2007 to apply for the 2024 Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon in South Korea.

There, they will be able to compete in either monobob or skeleton.

Testing of candidates will be conducted under the guidance of coaches on the Russian national team in bobsleigh and skeleton.

In the morning, participants will be registered in the conference hall, followed by a warm-up on treadmills and outdoor exercise equipment.

Testing will require athletes to sprint 50 metres from a standstill and 30m while running.

All athletes will also be required to record a standing long jump and triple jump.

Bobsleigh athletes will have to go through the "wheelbarrow" simulator to test their skills.

Those looking to compete in the men's bobsled team must be at least 1.82m and 85 kilograms; with women needing to be 1.70m and 65 kilograms.

Skeleton athletes must be born in 1999 or later.
