Athletes from 56 countries have entered the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, where competition is due to begin tomorrow.

It is the penultimate ISSF World Cup before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Skeet competition is due to start tomorrow, and both Olympic champions will be in action on home soil.

Italy's Diana Bacosi is the reigning women's champion, and also won a world title at this venue - Trap Concaverde - in 2019.

Compatriot Chiara Cainero, the Olympic silver medallist, is also on the startlist and so too is Kim Rhode of the US, who won the bronze medal.

In the men's skeet competition, reigning Olympic champion Gabriele Rossetti is due to have Sweden's Marcus Svensson - the Rio 2016 runner-up - as one of his main challengers.

Italy's Tammaro Cassandro - runner-up at the 2019 World Championships - is another leading contender and will combine with Rossetti in the men's team event.

Current world champion Tomáš Nýdrle of the Czech Republic is also a shooter to watch out for.

Men's and women's solo and team skeet competition begins tomorrow.

Individual skeet finals are scheduled for the following day, with men's and women's team finals on Tuesday (May 10) and the mixed team final the day after that.

With trap competition also on the agenda, the World Cup is due to run until next Sunday (May 16).
