Sonia Mkoloma has joined as assistant coach with Olivia Murphy and Liana Leota signing deals as technical coaches.

All three will work under head coach Jess Thirlby in the run-up to the Games in Birmingham next year.

Mkoloma spent 15 years playing for England, competing in five World Cups and three Commonwealth Games.

She was capped 123 times and was England's assistant coach for a development tour to Australia and New Zealand in 2019.

Other roles include working in Australia for NSW Swifts.

Murphy also represented England for 15 years, winning 95 caps which included six seasons as captain.

Since 2014 she has been technical coach for England's under-17 side, while she has more than 20 years of coaching experience in all.

This includes her current role as assistant coach at Netball Superleague side Loughborough Lightning. 

Leota, a New Zealander, won the Commonwealth Games with her country at Delhi 2010 and played for Manchester Thunder in England before joining Severn Stars, where she is currently captain.

"If you know netball, you know Liv, Sonia and Liana," said Thirlby. 

"Their passion and collective experience from playing and coaching at the highest level over many years in multiple high-performance environments across the world will be a huge asset for the Roses as we prepare for Birmingham 2022.

"I'm so excited about what they will bring to our team." 

Mkoloma said she had been on a "rollercoaster of emotions".

"I am excited about the prospect of working with Jess and the Vitality Roses team and look forward to seeing what we can create," she said. 

"England Netball has been a big part of my playing journey and as this new chapter starts, I'm grabbing it with both hands."

Murphy added: "It's a privilege and an honour to be involved with the Roses in this role. 

"With the netball season firmly underway it has been a great showcase for the athletes but also for me to start to look at ways to help them develop. 

"Ultimately, I'm so excited to work with the talented staff and players and cannot wait to get started."

England won their first Commonwealth Games title at Gold Coast 2018, after dramatically beating hosts Australia 52-51 in the last seconds of the final.

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to be involved in international netball again and I am looking forward to working with one of the world's best teams," said Leota.

"My transition from player to coach is what excites me as does the challenge of working in an elite sporting environment and contributing to the growth of the Roses."
