Kajihara had finished as the runner-up to Norway’s Anita Yvonne Stenberg in the scratch race to open the four-event competition.

The reigning world champion responded by winning the tempo and elimination races to lead the competition heading into the points race.

Kajihara won five of the eight sprints in the race to boost her points tally, which saw her top the final standings on 146.

Stenberg finished as the runner-up on 136, with Austria’s Verena Eberhardt third on 118.

Belarus’ Hanna Tserakh triumphed in the women’s individual pursuit event at the Hong Kong Velodrome.

Tserakh claimed victory in the final by achieving a time of 3min 37.364sec, with Japan’s Kie Furuyama finishing second in 3:44.147.

Belarus’ Ina Savenka completed the top three.

The women’s 500 metres individual time trial event saw Italy’s Miriam Vece earn victory in 34.022.

Spain’s Helena Casas Roige finished second on 34.903, with Malaysia’s Anis Amira Rosidi ending third on 35.493.

Malaysia’s Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis emerged as the winner of the men’s keirin competition.

He crossed the line 0.094 clear of Yuta Wakimoto and Yudai Nitta, with the Japanese duo rounding off the podium places.

The top three teams in the men’s madison competition all gained a lap on their rivals to secure places on the podium.

Germany’s Moritz Malcharek and Theo Reinhardt topped the standings after building their points tally in the sprints.

The pairing finished on 88 points, with Austria’s Andreas Muller and Andreas Graf second on 65.

Japan’s Eiya Hashimoto and Shunsuke Imamura ended third on 51 points.
