Cape Verde and Tanzania are set to become associate members of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

The FIS Council accepted provisional applications from the two African countries, which will now be put forward to tomorrow's Congress for approval.

Panama, United Arab Emirates and Vanuatu are also due to become associate members at the Congress, taking place remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FIS Council has confirmed crystal globes will now be awarded to the top men and women in the dual moguls event on the Snowboard and Freestyle World Cup circuits.

The decision from the ruling body means overall titles will be given out in both the individual and dual moguls competitions.

Posthumously awarding Slovenia's Janez Kocijančič with a "recognition for special contribution" to the FIS was among the other decisions taken by the Council during its pre-Congress meeting.

Kocijančič was a vice-president of the FIS and head of the European Olympic Committees before his death at the age of 78 last June.

The award will be handed over to the Slovenian Ski Association in the coming weeks, the FIS said.
