Paula_Walker_Dec_8_2December 13 - British Bobsleigh performance director Gary Anderson has hailed Paula Walker's second successive top ten finish in the World Cup in Canada.

GB's number one female driver, aided by Rebekah Wilson, finished ninth in the race which was won by German team Catheleen Martini and Berit Wiacker.

"We set an objective of two top ten finishes in World Cup races this season," said Anderson.

"We have achieved that in the first two races so we have to be pleased, but we will now re-evaluate.

"Paula has shown that GBR can compete with the best in the world.

"This was her first competition ever on the Calgary track and that makes her performance even more of an achievement.

"We have an excellent team spirit with the brakewomen now fighting for a place - Kelly Thomas, Rebekah Wilson and Heather Fisher are all capable of getting world class starts and that will be key as we move on to Park City for the next round."

Walker, who was seventh after the first run but slipped to ninth overall after the second, said: "I was really pleased with my first run and to be so close to the leading group shows that we are closing the gap."
