September 28 - Bryn Vaile, who guided British Skeleton to a position as the UK's most successful winter Olympic sport over the last decade, is to take on a new role within the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT) as Advisor on Special Projects.
September 27 - British short track speed skater Elise Christie, included in the team which will open its 2012-2013 season at the Invitation Cup in Heerenveen, Netherlands this weekend, will seek to match her achievement at last year's meeting on the Dutch rink, when she finished first in the overall classification after winning the 1000 and 1500 metres events.

May 25 - The official course for the Sprint Québec 2012 Cross Country World Cup has been unveiled by the President of the International Ski Federation (FIS), Gian-Franco Kasper.
May 21 - Russia's victorious ice hockey team – feted by proud President Vladimir Putin – have returned home after winning the IIHF world title with a 6-2 victory over Slovakia in Helsinki.
May 16 – Having ensured their place at the last eight of the World Championships and a place at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, Canada are now setting their sights on a first win at the competition since 2007.
Denver were awarded the 1976 Winter Olympic Games ahead of Sion in Switzerland, Tempere in Finland and Vancouver in Canada at the International Olympic Committee Session in 1970. But in a Colorado referendum in November 1972, voters rejected funding for the event. It is the only time a city has been awarded the Olympics but pulled out. The IOC then offered the Games to Whistler in Canada, but they too declined owing to a change of Government following elections. Salt Lake City offered to host the Games, but the IOC, still reeling from the Denver rejection, declined and selected Innsbruck, the 1964 host city, as a replacement.
