A total of 188 boxers from 56 National Olympic Committees have already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Boxing Tournament at the first qualifying event in Italy and the continental qualifiers. The second event in Thailand will be the last chance for boxers to compete for the remaining 51 places.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) is giving its athletes its full support on the road to Paris 2024 and beyond. The IBA delegation at the qualifying event in Busto Arsizio worked closely with the Italian Boxing Federation (FPI) to support their efforts on behalf of the participating boxers.

Russia's Serpukhov will host the first edition of the IBA Champions' Night 2024 on 3 February with a main event featuring World Championship bronze medallist Vsevolod Shumkov of Russia and Tashkent-2023 runner-up Saidel Horta of Cuba. 

Two world championships, including a junior championship in Armenia, additional work to generate resources to finance the national federations and to professionalise the people who govern boxing were his bets. The year ended without a final decision on the withdrawal of recognition by the IOC.

The last International Boxing Association (IBA) Champions' Night took place in Moscow. With the event held in the russian capital, 2023 concluded, and the curtain will rise again with visits to Croatia, Slovenia, and Madrid, with up to 10 editions planned for 2024. The year 2023 closes with 16 Champions' Nights.

Local boxer Daniyar Yeleussinov's match was one of the highlights of the penultimate IBA Champions' Night before the end of 2023, leading up to the one in Moscow. 

On December 12, 2020, Umar Kremlev emerged victorious in the AIBA presidential elections, securing 57.33% of the votes. In the subsequent year, as doubts loomed over AIBA's future, the organization underwent a transformative phase. 

We met with the International Boxing Association (IBA) general secretary in Yerevan during the 2023 IBA Junior World Championships. Roberts was chosen as Interim Secretary in June 2023 after serving as the Development Director for several years. Later in September he was elected as permanent Secretary and Executive Director.

Tigran Ovsepyan (50 kg) from Armenia was one of the biggest hopes of the host country in IBA Junior World Championships in Yerevan during November 24 to December 4. The European champion from 2023 was the main contender for the world gold medal and he didn’t disappoint.

Boxer Adam Maca was one of the brightest European stars in the last two EUBC Junior European championships. The young boxer represented England and claimed the European gold medal twice. Ethnic Albanian Maca was also aiming to win the World Champion’s title, but the situation has changed since, and England left IBA to join the “World Boxing”. However, Maca’s willingness to participate in the IBA World Junior Championship in Yerevan was so big that the solution was found.

The 2023 IBA Junior World Championships ended in Yerevan on December 4. The atmosphere in the hall, the bouts full of great emotions and powerful punches made the home crowd fill all the presence of boxing spirit in Yerevan.

IBA reiterated its call for unity among National Federations this week, urging them to become aware and reflect before making a decision to belong to IBA or another structure, as any membership decision to an "unrecognized" association would be irreversible, given that IBA does not accept dual membership.

During their meeting in Belgrade over the weekend, IBA President Umar Kremlev and Serbian President Alexander Vučić discussed several key points on their agenda.

When a boxer hangs up his gloves he puts an end to a stage of his life, but his knowledge is so extensive that he should not put an end to it completely. His legacy should be used to help new generations. This is the idea by which IBA supports the transition of athletes beyond the ring and is reflected in the priority registration of the course for retired athletes. 

"Boxing is a cornerstone of the Olympic movement. If boxing is removed from the Olympic Games, it will be the Olympics that lose, not boxing, because it is very popular." This statement comes from Umar Kremlev, President of the International Boxing Association (IBA), and was made during the press conference held on Thursday, November 16, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris.
