Vinesh and Anshu qualify for India, Iran secure full Greco-Roman team presence

Two athletes alongside Bajrang Punia and Sakhshi Malik were protesting against former president of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was accused of sexually harassing six female wrestlers. 

After UWW lifted the ban from WFI, the ad-hoc committee organised Olympic trials in March, and Vinesh and Anshu earned their places in the National team, while Bajrang failed to reach the finals.

Tokyo 2020 champion David Taylor suffers shock defeat at US National Trials

Tokyo 2020 champion David Taylor (+86kg) had been unbeaten since the 2021 World Championships final, when he lost to Iran's Hassan Yazdani. Taylor had only lost once since the 2017 US World Team Trials, when he lost twice to two-time world champion and Rio 2016 bronze medallist J'Den Cox, and it was the same loss to Yazdani. Since 2017, Taylor has won gold medals at the Olympics and three World Championships, as well as a silver medal at the World Championships.

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) Executive Committee members, office staff and delegates met in Aveiro, Portugal, on 19 April. The first face-to-face EC meeting for 2024 was hosted by the Portuguese Academic Federation of University Sports (FADU) and the University of Aveiro.
